Poems from the Great Rift

Poetry

I SPEAK FOR JUSTICE, PEACE, SELF-CONSIOUSNESS, AND COOPERATION

THE PRODIGAL FATHER

What happened to the father of the two little girls?

One has a front tooth missing;

She misses him while playing with dolls,

The other has one tooth growing;

And his ex wife has never ceased from flirting

What happened to the father of the quiet lad?

His Adam’s apple is almost fully grown;

True, he makes the call of an absent dad;

He keeps a blue faded shirt his father once wore.

In his mind he is sure,

That his absent father would someday come to his senses,

But as he grows older,

He realizes that the chances there are slim chances.

The prodigal father of one of the many

On an endless search for happiness;

Whether it is sunny, cloudy, or rainy,

He must carry weariness on his brow.

I LOVE YOU, WHAT IS YOUR NAME?

I love you, what is your name?

I only saw your piquant hair from behind,

Now an in love with your game;

I have searched all places I can find –

Our learnt our, laws, traditions, and custom,

My inner court passed a harsh judgment;

In my life, fear was manifested in with many symptoms;

In my heart, love was never permanent;

But I love you, what is your name?

Come; take away my guilt and shame;

I cannot keep my voice low in a crisis’

In this disenchantment and aridity be the oasis.
